What they do
An Insurance Underwriter evaluates and measures risk and advises businesses in insurance, banking and securities. Recommends customers to be approved for insurance coverage, and develops policies and premium levels. Reviews loan applications, evaluates credit-worthiness of loan applicants and analyzes the investment risk of a loan for the bank. Evaluates risk in different types of securities and advises clients on investments that will yield highest profits.

Job Description
- Perform analysis including spreads of corporate tax returns and financial statements, personal and corporate cash flows, and investment real estate cash flows and scenarios using knowledge of commercial and residential appraisals.
- Prepare and underwrite approval packages for origination, renewal, or increase of commercial term and revolving loans and commercial real estate loans of varying size and complexity.
- Complete annual reviews and perform covenant testing of existing loans.
- Perform associated borrower due diligence and investigations into creditworthiness.
- Banking experience 4 years of education or 2 years of experience for each year of required education.
