Responsibilities:

The Underwriter will maintain contributory responsibility for Allied Healthcare underwriting, including revenue growth, profitability and competitiveness by directing the activities for an underwriting function or team but overall sole responsibility for an individual book of business. Oversees policy applications, renewals, repricing, restrictions, and cancellations to determine risk acceptability and coverage. Has both technical and administrative responsibility. May be involved in planning and implementing administrative, technical and operational direction toward achieving defined goals and objectives. Focus is maintained on their assigned brokers to foster growth, understanding of our business, marketing of our appetite and initiatives as well as the key point person for resolution of service issues. Skill and knowledge of broker/agency management and relationship building Expected to maintain and develop broker relationships Track record of uncovering, researching and putting together new product line opportunities by applying appropriate underwriting strategies and standards to qualify risk acceptability. Ability to work effectively and within an assigned level of underwriting authority. Experience planning, orchestrating, and leading highly effective broker meetings. Negotiates standard coverage issues, closes sale, and gauges customer satisfaction Ability to meet or exceed designated LOB production metrics Strong technical knowledge regarding underwriting, coverage and pricing within a particular product line Proven ability to build and maintain strong productive relationships with individual brokers Provide timely, courteous and efficient service to all internal and external clients Ability to identify and call appropriate attention to broker performance issues Understanding of pricing and risk selection criteria Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
Qualifications:

Minimum of 3 years' Allied Health underwriting experience Strong experience in Excess & Surplus Lines and Wholesale Brokerage Distribution Resourceful, analytical, with the ability to execute tasks through to resolution Strong oral/written communication skills with a positive attitude Detail-oriented with initiative and ability to work in fast-paced team environment A focus on delivering exceptional customer service Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently as well as part of a team High sense of urgency and need to identify and resolve issues Ability to travel, as needed Computer literate including use of Word, Excel and various project management tools College degree or equivalent work experience with demonstrated involvement in insurance industry education. RPLU designation a plus. Working knowledge of and contacts within the wholesale agency distribution system strongly preferred.
