ASSOCIATE UNDERWRITER RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare file for underwriting review of the application to determine what is needed based on application and criteria review. Assess risk for Life and Long Term Care insurance using lifestyle, medical and cognitive information. Indicate if an application qualifies for an approval or decline during review and process decision stated. Complete correspondence to communicate adverse decisions. Review and complete underwriting decisions on ready to decide cases for designated client's that require only minimal case requirements with no medical records. Accurately review required weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting and communicate the findings internally and externally as required. This includes end of month reporting for designated clients for billing purposes and submission to Finance. Act as liaison utilizing effective communication between clients, Underwriting and vendors to expedite case requirements and facilitate to complete the file when missing information is needed. Complete the necessary written, verbal and/or email communication, while adhering to HIPAA, to achieve resolution and complete the file for submission to Underwriting. Complete administrative underwriting functions necessary for assigned clients in LTCG's internal administrative systems, imaging system and as required on vendor websites. Additionally, responsible for supporting the application processing and underwriting email message centers. Uphold the principles of compliance as outlined in the Code of Conduct, Employee Handbook and related policies and procedures. Supports and participates in the mandatory Corporate Compliance Program training initiative on an annual or more frequent basis, as required. Meet established quality and production expectations as established and communicated by the department. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
High school diploma Two years' experience in insurance industry Working knowledge of medical terminology and expected outcomes, based on medical conditions Able to work independently and prioritize multiple projects and changing workloads Proven ability to meet client expectations and deadlines Ability to type 50+ words per minute Detail-oriented
