Job Description
Senior Inland Marine Underwriter Chicago, IL (Hybrid) I'm currently partnering with a highly regarded specialty insurance organization seeking an experienced Inland Marine Underwriter to join its Midwest team. This opportunity would suit a technically strong underwriter looking to manage a diverse Inland Marine portfolio while building broker relationships, driving profitable growth, and helping develop junior underwriting talent. Responsibilities Underwrite a mix of new and renewal Inland Marine business. Evaluate complex risks, determine appropriate coverage structures, pricing and terms. Manage and grow a profitable portfolio across multiple Inland Marine classes. Build and maintain strong relationships with retail broker partners throughout the Midwest. Monitor portfolio performance and identify opportunities for profitable growth. Work closely with leadership on underwriting strategy and market development initiatives. Provide mentorship and support to junior underwriting team members. Collaborate with colleagues across multiple specialty product lines. Desired Background 6+ years of Inland Marine underwriting experience. Experience underwriting profitable admitted and/or specialty commercial business. Strong understanding of coverage analysis, risk selection and portfolio management. Established broker relationships within Chicago and the broader Midwest marketplace. Experience across Builders Risk, Contractors Equipment, Transportation-related risks or broader Inland Marine classes highly desirable. Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
