In this role, you will be responsible for evaluating and underwriting title insurance risks to ensure accurate risk assessment and compliance with company standards. The position involves reviewing abstracts of title, assessing potential issues, and making informed decisions to approve or decline insurance coverage. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of underwriting principles, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to analyze complex information efficiently. Duties Conduct thorough reviews of abstracts of title, legal documents, and related materials to assess risk factors. Evaluate the validity and accuracy of title information, including ownership history, liens, encumbrances, and legal descriptions. Make underwriting decisions based on established guidelines and risk assessment criteria. Collaborate with attorneys, lenders and other stakeholders to resolve discrepancies or issues identified during the review process. Maintain detailed records of underwriting decisions and supporting documentation. Stay informed about changes in laws, regulations, and industry standards related to title insurance. Assist in developing and updating underwriting policies and procedures to improve efficiency and compliance. Provide guidance and support to customers and team members as needed. Requirements Some experience in underwriting, preferably within the title insurance or real estate industry is desired. Knowledge of title search processes, legal terminology, and relevant regulations. Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex legal documents. Attention to detail and high level of accuracy in work. Effective communication skills for collaborating with internal teams and external partners. Ability to make sound decisions under pressure while adhering to company policies. Proficiency with software .
