We are currently recruiting for an Underwriter.PRIMARY PURPOSE
The Underwriter ensures accurate financial analysis, pricing, and compliance for Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, and Disability programs, covering both fully insured and self-funded plans. This role involves allocating a variety of benefits within a health and welfare budget, collaborating with third-party vendors, and servicing client requests for alternate benefit arrangements.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Proposal Development:
Create complex new business and renewal proposals, incorporating a variety of benefits within an anticipated health and welfare budget.Compliance & Strategy:
Ensure compliance with the industry's best practices, client requirements, and applicable laws or regulations including but not limited to the Service Contract Act (SCA), Davis Bacon Act (DBA), and Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA).Quality Assurance & Analysis:
Audit work of other team members for accuracy and perform detailed claims, risk, and financial trend analyses.Efficiency Optimization:
Implement procedural changes to enhance department efficiency.QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Experience:
A minimum of three (3) years of underwriting, actuarial, accounting, budgeting, or health insurance risk experience is required.Expertise:
Understanding of health and welfare benefits, including but not limited to medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, limited medical, group life, accident, and critical illness.Technical Skills:
Advanced Microsoft Excel use, including modeling and data analysis.Education:
