Job Description
Position Summary GSG Wealth Management is a comprehensive financial planning firm seeking a Portfolio Manager. This professional will oversee the implementation of the firm's portfolio-management strategies and proprietary investment models while serving as an internal resource for complex investment and financial-planning questions. The ideal candidate combines investment expertise, analytical curiosity, sound judgment, and the ability to translate complicated research into clear, practical guidance for Financial Advisors and clients. As a member of GSG's collaborative 17-person team, this professional will work closely with the firm's Investment Committee, Financial Advisors, and operations team to deliver thoughtful, coordinated solutions for clients Portfolio Management Manage client portfolios in accordance with Investment Committee guidance and each client's Investment Policy Statement Monitor model allocations, holdings, drift, cash positions, and implementation consistency Oversee trading in client accounts to invest or raise cash, rebalance portfolios, and execute tax-loss harvesting strategies Develop and maintain systems for efficiently meeting clients' portfolio-income and distribution needs Develop, document, and implement portfolio-transition plans for applicable clients Monitor capital-call notices and coordinate timely funding on behalf of clients with alternative investments Monitor investment holdings and communicate relevant position, performance, and strategy updates to Financial Advisors Conduct due diligence calls and research potential separately managed account and alternative investment opportunities Research complex investment strategies applicable to individual clients' situations Recommend changes to proprietary models for consideration by the Investment Committee based on research, market conditions, product changes, and client needs Financial Analysis and Problem-Solving Partner with Financial Advisors to identify, research, and resolve complex investment and financial-planning questions arising from client situations Break down complex client circumstances, identify the relevant variables, evaluate potential solutions, and communicate clear conclusions and recommendations Conduct scenario analysis involving investment allocation, taxation, concentrated positions, retirement distributions, cash-flow needs, and other planning considerations Develop reusable resources, frameworks, and processes based on recurring client questions and planning needs Serve as a subject-matter expert in client meetings regarding GSG's proprietary models, investment strategies, and specific investment opportunities Develop expertise in modeling and present complex financial-planning strategies using PX, Northwestern Mutual's proprietary planning software Understand and support the firm's vision, mission, and strategy Complete strategic initiatives and projects assigned by GSG Partners and/or
