Senior Utility Asset Management Project Manager

Job Description

Senior Utility Asset Management Project Manager AECOM is seeking an experienced Senior Utility Asset Management Project Manager to support the growth and delivery of municipal water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure programs throughout the East region. The successful candidate will lead multidisciplinary teams in the planning, assessment, design, rehabilitation, and management of water and wastewater conveyance systems while providing strategic asset management solutions for utility clients. This individual will serve as both a project manager and technical leader, responsible for client relationships, project delivery, business development support, and mentoring of junior staff. The role requires strong technical expertise in conveyance infrastructure, utility asset management, capital planning, condition assessment, and program implementation.
  • Responsibilities
  • Project Management
  • + Lead multidisciplinary teams to deliver complex water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure projects from planning through construction.
+ Serve as Project Manager for multiple concurrent projects, ensuring scope, schedule, budget, quality, and risk management objectives are met. + Develop project execution plans, work plans, schedules, and staffing forecasts. + Monitor project financial performance, including project budgets, utilization, revenue forecasting, and profitability. + Coordinate internal and external stakeholders and facilitate project meetings. + Ensure compliance with AECOM quality management systems and project delivery procedures.
  • Asset Management Leadership
  • + Develop and implement utility asset management programs aligned with industry best practices and
ISO 55000
principles. + Lead teams to conduct asset inventories, condition assessments, criticality analyses, and risk-based prioritization studies. + Support development of Capital Improvement Plans (CIPs), asset management plans, and long-term infrastructure investment strategies. + Lead lifecycle cost analyses and asset renewal/replacement planning efforts. + Integrate asset management practices with GIS, CMMS, hydraulic modeling, and enterprise asset management systems. + Assist clients in establishing asset management frameworks, performance metrics, and decision-support systems.

  • + Maintain and expand relationships with municipal, utility, and regional clients.
+ Participate in proposal development, interviews, and strategic capture planning. + Identify opportunities for cross-business collaboration and growth. + Support regional market sector initiatives and business development goals. + Serve as a trusted advisor to clients on infrastructure and asset management challenges.

  • Qualifications
  • Minimum Requirements
  • + Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
+ 12+ years of progressive experience in infrastructure + Demonstrated experience managing multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects. + Minimum of 12 years experience developing and implementing utility asset management programs. + Experience with conveyance system planning, assessment, rehabilitation, and capital improvement programs. + Experience in managing project financials and client relationships.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • + Professional Engineer (PE) license.
+ Excellent communication, presentation, and client management skills. + Institute of Asset Management (IAM) certification. + Master's degree in Engineering, Asset Management, Business Administration, or related field. + Experience with: + GIS platforms (Esri) + Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) systems + Capital planning, optimization and decision-support tools + Experience leading large municipal utility programs and framework contracts. + Established relationships with municipal and utility clients throughout the Mid-Atlantic Region.

  • Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $160000 to $190000.
