  • Loan Servicing is responsible for overseeing the Company's loan servicing activities and serving as the primary liaison with the Company's outsourced loan servicing provider.
This position will work closely with senior management, loan origination, loan processing, accounting, and investors to ensure that loan information is accurately captured, maintained, and serviced in accordance with loan documents and Company policies. The Accounting Manager will be responsible for monitoring the accuracy of loan servicing data, coordinating loan modifications and payoffs, reviewing servicing and collection reports, reconciling loan activity, and supporting investor reporting and communications. The ideal candidate is highly organized, analytical, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently while managing multiple priorities and deadlines. Key Responsibilities Loan Onboarding & Servicing Coordinate the onboarding of new loans into the Company's loan servicing system, ensuring that all relevant information is accurately collected and abstracted from executed loan and closing documents. Review loan servicing data for accuracy and consistency with the Note, loan agreement, mortgage, and other applicable closing documents. Coordinate with the outsourced loan servicing company to ensure loans are properly established and maintained in the servicing system. Monitor the servicing portfolio to ensure that interest accruals, payments, fees, and other loan activity are calculated and recorded accurately and in accordance with the applicable loan documents. Monitor collection reports and follow up on discrepancies, delinquencies, and other servicing issues. Follow up with borrowers regarding periodic requirements for financial statements, insurance, property information, and other required documentation. Loan Modifications & Extensions Coordinate the loan modification and extension process with borrowers, management, outside counsel, and the loan servicer, as appropriate. Prepare and/or coordinate required modification and extension documentation. Ensure that approved modifications and extensions are accurately reflected in the loan servicing system and underlying accounting records. Verify that revised loan terms, interest rates, maturity dates, payment schedules, fees, and other applicable terms are properly entered into the servicing system. Payoffs Coordinate the loan payoff process with borrowers and the outsourced loan servicing company. Review payoff calculations and ensure that payoff statements are prepared accurately and delivered timely. Monitor payoff activity through closing and ensure that loan balances and related accounting entries are properly reconciled. Prepare loan payoff statements and related information for investors upon receipt of loan payoffs. Accounting & Reconciliation Reconcile individual loan charges and activity recorded in the general ledger to the loan servicing system monthly. Investigate and resolve discrepancies between the loan servicing system, general ledger, borrower records, and other Company records. Assist with the monthly reconciliation and distribution of funds to investors. Assist accounting and senior management with reporting and analysis related to the loan portfolio. Investor Relations & Reporting Assist with monthly communications to investors regarding the status of delinquent and otherwise significant loans. Enhance and maintain the effective use of the Company's investor portal and assist in improving the availability and presentation of investor information. Assist with responding to investor inquiries relating to loan balances, payments, payoffs, distributions, and portfolio status. General Work collaboratively with senior management and the Company's loan origination, processing, accounting, and servicing functions. Identify opportunities to improve loan servicing processes, controls, reporting, and system utilization. Maintain accurate and organized loan records and documentation. Perform other duties, tasks, and special projects as assigned. Candidate Qualifications Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred. Prior experience in accounting, loan servicing, mortgage lending, commercial lending, or financial services preferred. Mortgage or commercial real estate lending experience is preferred but not required. Familiarity with The Mortgage Office loan servicing system and Quickbooks Desktop and Online is a plus. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Exceptional attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work independently, take initiative, and follow through on assignments with limited supervision. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other standard office applications. Ability and willingness to learn the Company's loan servicing systems, processes, and business practices. Ability to review and interpret loan documents and identify discrepancies between contractual loan terms and servicing records. Position Structure This position may initially be structured as a part-time position with flexible hours, with the potential to transition to a full-time position based on business needs, performance, and the successful development of the role. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, dependable, self-motivated, and comfortable taking ownership of responsibilities, with the ability to produce accurate work and learn the Company's business and loan servicing operations quickly.
