Position Summary The Loan Officer is responsible for generating new loan and deposit volume for the bank, including managing and expanding existing customer relationships. This position requires knowledge of standard lending practices and methods, experience with residential and commercial lending, and the ability to sell a variety of bank products to customers. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Establish and maintain effective relationships with new and existing loan and depository customers. Is knowledgeable and maintains proficiency in all lending products and has a working knowledge of all other bank products to be able to market those services to existing and potential customers. Analyzes applicant financial status, credit, and asset evaluation to determine feasibility of granting loan or submits application to underwriting for verification and recommendation. Compiles loan package and facilitates negotiation of loan structure with applicant, including fees, loan repayment options, and other credit terms. Assures timely loan closing and funding activities. Actively manages existing loan portfolio, monitors loan repayment activities, and takes necessary action to collect from past-due accounts. Develops new business by contacting existing customers and seeking out new prospects. Maintain and expand database of customers. Participates in community affairs to increase the bank's visibility and to enhance new business opportunities. Identifies and analyzes potential markets to develop prospects for loans. Assists customers with inquiries and information requests and resolves complaints relating to loan products and services. Education and Experience Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university. Two years of lending experience is required. Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
