Our client, an established credit union, is seeking an experienced Originator to support consumer and residential lending activities. This role is ideal for a lending professional who enjoys working directly with members, evaluating loan opportunities, and building strong relationships with referral partners while ensuring compliance with established policies and regulatory requirements. What You'll do...- Process consumer loan applications from initial interview through decisioning.
- Gather and review loan documentation and supporting information.
- Evaluate creditworthiness, income, employment, collateral, and debt ratios.
- Approve loans within established authority limits.
- Present loan requests that exceed lending authority for approval.
- Originate mortgage, home equity, HELOC, construction, bridge, and related lending products.
- Conduct prequalification interviews and prepare complete loan packages.
- Advise members on mortgage products that align with their needs.
- Develop and maintain referral relationships with realtors, builders, developers, and members.
- Support business development efforts and seek opportunities to increase loan volume.
- Explain loan decisions, policies, rates, and lending alternatives to members.
- Ensure lending activity complies with credit union policies and regulatory requirements.
- Cross sell credit union services and lending related products.

- High school diploma.
- Three years of related experience and/or training.
- Understanding of legal and regulatory lending requirements and loan documentation.
- Knowledge of consumer and residential lending practices.
- Understanding of creditworthiness evaluation principles.
- Knowledge of credit union lending products, policies, procedures, processing, and underwriting guidelines.
- Familiarity with title reports, insurance, and appraisals.
- Strong organizational, communication, time management, and member service skills.
