Build relationships. Grow your portfolio. Make a local impact. An established community bank serving Southwest Michigan is seeking an experienced Commercial Loan Officer in St. Joseph, Michigan . This opportunity is ideal for a relationship-driven lender with strong credit skills, proven business-development results and connections in the local business community. Key Responsibilities Generate new commercial lending business through prospecting, referrals and networking throughout St. Joseph and Berrien County. Structure and close commercial real estate, C&I, equipment financing and business lines of credit. Partner with credit analysts to evaluate financial statements, cash flow, collateral and repayment capacity. Prepare financing proposals and present credit recommendations for approval within bank policy. Manage a commercial portfolio, including renewals, modifications, credit reviews and problem-loan resolution. Grow deposit relationships, identify treasury-management opportunities and represent the bank at community events. Qualifications & Education 5+ years of direct commercial lending experience required; 7-10+ years preferred , including loan origination and portfolio management. Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or business required; advanced degree preferred. Proven ability to generate new commercial business, supported by measurable production results. Strong credit analysis, underwriting and loan-structuring skills, including CRE experience and meaningful C&I exposure. Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship-management skills, with the ability to work independently. Must be local to the St. Joseph area; established Berrien County business relationships and referral networks are strongly preferred. Why Consider This Opportunity?
