Description First Merchants Bank is seeking a Mortgage Consultant to join our team! This full time position will focus on managing residential loan applications through internal portfolio deals and walk-in customers. As part of this role you will: Provide exemplary customer service to walk-in and referred customers.

Interview loan applicants to collect and analyze financial data to determine the merits of the specific loan request.

Establish and negotiate terms under which credit will be extended, including costs, repayment method, repayment schedule, escrow accounts, workout situations and portfolio refinancing loans.

Assist customers with mortgage servicing questions related to payment postings, escrow issues, etc.

Support the credit control department by assisting with the restructuring or modification of past due portfolio mortgage loans.

Advise customers concerning financial matters.

Participate in community affairs to increase the bank's visibility and enhance new business opportunities.

Maintain the public reputation of the bank and corporation. To be successful in this position, we require the following: High school diploma or equivalent (GED).

A minimum of one (1) year of mortgage lending, consumer lending or related experience.
