If you love gathering all the facts and helping others make sense of their finances, you may be interested in our Consumer Loan Underwriter position. What You'll Do Review consumer loan applications from start to finish -credit, income, and collateral Make informed underwriting decisions within your authority while staying aligned with policy and regulations Spot risks and opportunities, helping us grow responsibly Communicate decisions clearly with lending staff and occasionally members Recommend approval conditions as appropriate Ensure loan files are accurate, complete, and compliant before final approval Monitor and document exceptions appropriately Stay current on regulations like Reg B, FCRA, and internal policies Partner with loan officers, processors, and branch teams to keep things moving efficiently Identify trends or red flags in the loan portfolio and share insights Support members directly by responding to lending emails and inbound calls What You Bring 2-5 years of consumer lending or underwriting experience (credit union or community FI experience is a plus) Strong understanding of credit analysis (DTI, collateral, credit scoring) Knowledge of lending regulations and compliance requirements Ability to make sound, independent decisions within guidelines Attention to detail that catches what others miss Clear, professional communication skills Bonus points if you have: Experience with indirect lending or automated underwriting systems Familiarity with loan origination platforms or core systems A knack for spotting trends and improving processes You'll Thrive Here If You… Believe in people helping people -it's not just what you do, it's who you are.
