Commercial Banking Lender

About the Opportunity We are seeking an experienced Commercial Banking Lender with a strong focus on Commercial & Industrial (C&I) lending. This role is responsible for developing new business relationships, managing an existing loan portfolio, and analyzing commercial loan requests of varying complexity and size. The ideal candidate will bring a strong credit background, relationship management expertise, and the ability to work collaboratively with underwriting and credit teams. Key Responsibilities Develop and cultivate new commercial banking relationships to grow the loan portfolio Interview loan applicants and analyze financial statements, collateral, and credit data to assess creditworthiness Structure loan terms and recommend approvals within established lending guidelines Coordinate underwriting, including risk rating assessments, covenant compliance testing, and financial analysis Manage renewals, modifications, and ongoing servicing of commercial loans Maintain and grow an assigned portfolio of commercial clients Monitor delinquencies and evaluate problem loans; recommend restructuring strategies when appropriate Conduct annual reviews and ensure timely file documentation and compliance Cross-sell banking products and services to support overall relationship growth Stay informed on economic, financial, and legislative trends impacting commercial lending Assist with reporting, forecasting, and portfolio management tasks Work Environment & Culture Hybrid schedule (3 days onsite at multiple locations in NJ) Supportive, collaborative, and highly team-oriented culture Friendly and relationship-driven environment internally and externally Community-focused organization with company-supported volunteer initiatives Qualifications Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred 5+ years of commercial lending experience, with a strong emphasis on C&I lending Completion of a formal credit training program or bank-sponsored credit program Strong financial analysis skills; experience with financial analysis software preferred Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong customer service and relationship management abilities High level of organization, accuracy, and attention to detail Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Proficiency with current banking technologies and systems Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion Compensation & Benefits We offer a competitive compensation and benefits package, including: Medical, Dental, Vision, and Prescription (Rx) coverage (contributory) Performance-based bonus programs Employee Stock Ownership Program (ESOP) Life Insurance, Long-Term Disability (LTD), and Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) Paid Time Off (PTO), including personal and vacation time Paid Sick Time Paid Bank Holidays 401(k) retirement plan participation What We're Looking For We're seeking a results-driven commercial lender who can independently manage a portfolio while collaborating effectively with credit and lending teams.
