Role Description The Loan Officer role at NEXA Lending is a full-time, remote position responsible for originating residential mortgage loans and guiding borrowers through the lending process. Day-to-day activities include prospecting and building relationships with potential clients and referral partners, conducting initial borrower consultations, and gathering financial documentation to assess eligibility. The Loan Officer will explain loan products, terms, and requirements in clear, accessible language, prepare and submit complete loan applications, and coordinate with underwriting, processing, and closing teams to move loans efficiently to funding. This role also involves maintaining accurate records, adhering to federal and state regulations, staying current with lending guidelines, and using company systems and tools to manage pipelines and deliver a high-quality borrower experience. Qualifications Strong customer service, relationship-building, and communication skills to interact effectively with borrowers and referral partners. Proficiency in mortgage loan origination, including understanding of conventional, FHA, VA, and other residential loan products. Ability to analyze financial information, such as income, credit, and assets, to assess borrower eligibility and risk. Comfort with digital tools, loan origination systems (LOS), and remote collaboration platforms to manage workflows and documentation. Knowledge of federal and state mortgage regulations and compliance requirements, with a commitment to ethical lending practices. Organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple loan files, meet deadlines, and maintain accurate records. Active Mortgage Loan Originator license (NMLS) in applicable states or eligibility to obtain necessary licensing promptly. Previous experience as a Loan Officer or in a related mortgage or financial services role is preferred. High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate or bachelor's degree in finance, business, or a related field is beneficial.
