Status:
Full-Time (40 hours a week, some Saturdays required) Reports to: VP of Consumer and Mortgage Lending Position Purpose Responsible for origination of various long term brokered mortgage programs and held in portfolio credit union products. Conducts initial prequalification interviews and prepares complete loan application packages and necessary documentation. Conveys policies for extension of credit in accordance with Credit Union and secondary investor guidelines. Serves members, prospective members, builders, developers, and realtors promptly and professionally strengthens established and potential business relationships. Provides general Credit Union information and cross-sells services, as well mentors mortgage staff with product knowledge. Assists mortgage members as necessary with duties as assigned. Essential Duties, Skills & Abilities Exhibit outstanding member services skills by applying Granite Credit Union Service Standards and Core Values. Assumes responsibility for meeting established mortgage loan production levels. Assumes responsibility for the effective and professional completion of loan origination functions. Interviews, pre-qualifies, completes application documents, and analyzes preliminary documentation for loan requests. Discusses loan alternatives, credit criteria, interest rates, and loan documentation. Explains mortgage process, time frames to expect and lock in procedures thoroughly. All in such a manner as to elicit a shared understanding and positive responses from members. Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective and professional business relations with members, realtors, builders and mortgage professionals. Stays informed regarding changes and trends in the local real estate and competitive lending market. Receives and screens loan applications. Pulls, review and analyzes credit. Gathers financial data. Notifies client to resolve discrepancies such as late payment history, judgments, etc. Discusses options. Informs client of closing costs such as appraisals, and attorney fees. Maintain constant communication with clients via email, phone and mail form application to closing and post-closing. Communicate with attorneys, realtors, appraisers and vendors pertaining to specific client needs. Receives inquiries from prospective customers regarding all types of mortgage and construction loans, provides requested information regarding the organizations lending policies and procedures. Prepares records and reports as requested regarding loan origination and closing activities as needed. Determine financing objectives and goals. Conducts the loan interview and secures the customer information necessary to initiate a loan transaction. Provides loan information and service to customers, realtors, and others as needed. Collects supporting loan documentation. Requests a personal employment and credit check of the applicant, requests an appraisal on the property and/or construction plans under consideration. Maintains contacts and good working relationships with real estate brokers, attorneys, and builders to assure a favorable image of the organization and to provide information regarding current loan policies and procedures. Offers loan customers products including preauthorized payment plan, hazard insurance, health, accident and life insurance. Ensure that all information and transactions regarding credit union members are kept confidential. Maintain the security of the work area and keep it organized and neat in appearance. Maintain a professional and courteous attitude with all people, including fellow employees, members, management staff, board members, and outside vendors. Attend meetings as required. Promote a professional appearance and attitude. Other duties as assigned. Basic computer operating skills such as email, Microsoft Office, etc. Must comply with all company policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control. Required Knowledge and Experience Understanding of the foundation of determining credit worthiness. Knowledge of Mortgage Investor selling guidelines and requirements. Two to Five years of mortgage loan originating experience. Mortgage lending sales experience. Education Associate degree in business or related field or an equivalent combination of formal training and experience.
