Job Description
Position Summary WE Mortgage is seeking a detail-oriented Mortgage Quality Control Specialist to review residential mortgage loan files for accuracy, completeness, compliance, and investor eligibility. This position will perform pre-funding and post-closing quality-control reviews, identify loan defects, coordinate corrective actions, and help maintain strong loan quality across Agency and Non-QM products. Key Responsibilities Conduct pre-funding and post-closing quality-control audits of residential mortgage loan files. Review loan applications, disclosures, credit reports, income and asset documentation, appraisals, title reports, insurance, underwriting conditions, and closing documents. Confirm compliance with company policies, investor guidelines, and applicable federal and state requirements. Review TRID disclosures, fee tolerances, timing requirements, HMDA data, Ability-to-Repay requirements, and other compliance documentation. Verify that underwriting conditions and required documentation are satisfied before funding or investor delivery. Identify, classify, and document loan defects according to severity and potential risk. Communicate findings clearly and coordinate corrective actions with Processing, Underwriting, Closing, Funding, and Post-Closing teams. Track outstanding deficiencies and confirm that corrective actions are completed promptly. Assist with quality-control reports, audit responses, defect-trend analysis, and process-improvement recommendations. Maintain accurate audit records and protect confidential borrower information. Qualifications Mortgage lending, quality control, underwriting, processing, closing, funding, or post-closing experience. Strong understanding of residential mortgage loan documents and the loan-origination process. Working knowledge of conventional, FHA, and Non-QM loan products. Familiarity with TRID, RESPA, TILA, ECOA, HMDA, ATR/QM, and investor requirements. Strong attention to detail and ability to identify documentation inconsistencies. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple files, deadlines, and priorities. Proficiency with mortgage loan-origination systems and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience performing pre-funding or post-closing QC audits. Experience with BytePro or a comparable loan-origination system. Knowledge of Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, and Non-QM investor guidelines. Experience with defect tracking, quality-control reporting, or investor audits.
