09/29/2026 Imagine yourself helping create memorable moments for South Dakota Lottery winners. Meet players from across the state and help them through the exciting process of claiming their prizes. Play an important role in keeping the Sioux Falls Validation Center running accurately and efficiently. If you are a detail-oriented, dependable professional with strong customer service and communication skills, the Validation Clerk position with the South Dakota Lottery is for you. The lottery's validation clerk will: Assist lottery players with the prize claim process, including processing mail-in and in-person claims. Sell and validate scratch and draw game tickets. Assist with winner photo and related winner activities. Maintain the Sioux Falls Validation Center lobby and ensure player promotional materials are available. Update scratch ticket display boards and replace sold-out materials as needed. Balance and reconcile the Sioux Falls daily cash drawer, including cash, scratch tickets, debit card settlements, and daily sales. Answer and direct incoming phone calls and respond to emails. Process and file lottery documentation, including return slips and other records. Perform other duties necessary to support the Sioux Falls Validation Center and lottery operations. Here is what it takes to do the job: Excellent customer service and communication skills. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to handle, balance, and reconcile cash and financial transactions. Ability to learn and follow Lottery claim processing procedures for mobile, mail-in and in-person claims. Strong organization and recordkeeping skills. Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and email. Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines. Ability to work independently while also being an effective member of the Lottery team. Dependability, professionalism, and good judgement when working with the Lottery players and sensitive information.
