Job Description

As Retail Loan Assistant, you will support the lending team by preparing and processing loan documentation, maintaining accurate records, and assisting with loan servicing activities. This role helps ensure loan files are complete, compliant, and processed efficiently while providing exceptional service for clients and internal team members. Working closely with lenders and other departments, you will play an important part in delivering accurate, timely loan transactions and a positive client experience. This opportunity is ideal for a detail-oriented, organized professional who is interested in building their knowledge of lending and banking operations while contributing to a community-focused team. What You'll Do In this role, you will support the loan lifecycle from documentation preparation through servicing and maintenance.
Responsibilities include:
Prepare accurate and complete loan closing documentation using information provided by lenders while ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and Bank requirements. Coordinate and obtain necessary reports, including appraisals, title work, and flood determinations, and assist in resolving documentation or collateral-related issues. Prepare closing packages and ensure loans are booked accurately and timely following closing. Upload and maintain information within the Bank's underwriting and document origination systems. Scan, organize, and maintain digital loan records to support efficient document management. Maintain customer information in accordance with Customer Identification Program (CIP) requirements. Prepare loan-related accounting entries and other departmental documentation as needed. Process security instruments and related documentation to help ensure the Bank's collateral interest are properly protected. Maintain organized loan files and ensure records are filed according to established procedures. Process loan payoffs, coordinate collateral releases, prepare lien releases, and communicate necessary updates to internal staff. Respond to client and lender inquiries regarding existing loans and assist with ongoing loan servicing needs. Provide backup support to other loan servicing functions and assist with departmental workflow as needed. Perform account maintenance and processing functions related to loan participation payments and ACH transactions with other financial institutions. Support the lending team with additional duties and special projects as assigned. What We're Looking For Successful candidates will bring strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to accuracy and service. Qualifications High School diploma or GED required. Previous lending, loan documentation, or banking experience is preferred but not required. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to prioritize work, manage multiple responsibilities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Effective problem-solving and analytical skills. Commitment to learning and following banking regulations, policies, and procedures. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team. Knowledge of lending regulations, BSA, and CIP requirements is a plus.
