Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a dependable, professional, and detail-oriented Night Auditor to join our team at Hampton Inn in Battle Creek, Michigan. The Night Auditor is responsible for providing friendly and professional guest service during the overnight shift while completing front desk duties, nightly accounting procedures, and other hotel operations. This position requires strong attention to detail, good communication skills, and the ability to work independently while maintaining a welcoming and secure environment for overnight guests. The Night Auditor plays an important role in ensuring that front desk operations and daily financial records are accurate and properly completed. Duties and Responsibilities Welcome guests and provide professional, courteous service throughout the overnight shift. Complete guest check-in and check-out procedures accurately using the hotel's property management system (PMS). Answer incoming telephone calls and assist guests with questions, reservations, directions, and general hotel information. Process guest payments, charges, adjustments, and other front desk transactions accurately. Perform the nightly audit, including reconciling daily financial transactions and verifying that guest accounts and hotel records are accurate. Review and prepare daily reports and other required paperwork according to hotel procedures. Identify and report billing discrepancies or other accounting issues to the appropriate supervisor or manager. Respond to guest requests and concerns in a professional and timely manner and escalate issues to management when appropriate. Maintain accurate guest information and reservation records in the hotel's PMS. Follow hotel procedures for handling cash, credit card transactions, keys, guest information, and other sensitive materials. Monitor the front desk and hotel areas as required during the overnight shift and follow established safety and security procedures. Follow hotel emergency procedures and promptly report safety concerns, maintenance issues, or unusual incidents to management. Maintain a clean, organized, and professional front desk and lobby area. Complete shift notes and reports regarding important overnight activities, guest concerns, maintenance issues, or incidents. Communicate important information to the incoming shift and other hotel departments to support a smooth transition. Assist with light cleaning or other hotel duties as assigned during overnight hours. Follow all company and hotel policies and procedures. Perform other reasonable duties related to hotel operations as assigned by management. Qualifications and Experience Previous hotel, hospitality, customer service, or front desk experience is preferred but not required. Previous Night Auditor experience is a plus. Experience using a hotel property management system (PMS), such as PEP or a similar system, is preferred. Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling financial transactions and guest information. Basic math and computer skills with the ability to accurately enter and review information. Professional communication and customer service skills. Ability to remain organized and focused while working independently during overnight hours. Ability to handle guest questions and concerns calmly and professionally. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, hotel policies, and established procedures. Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling guest information and hotel records. Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential. Must be available to work overnight shifts, including weekends and holidays as scheduled. Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, reach, and perform routine front desk and hotel duties throughout the shift. Preferred Skills Previous hotel front desk or Night Auditor experience. Familiarity with hotel reservation and property management systems. Experience handling cash, credit card transactions, and basic financial reconciliation. Strong customer service and problem-solving skills. Additional language skills are a plus but are not required.
