Job Description
The Night Auditor is responsible for providing exceptional guest service while performing overnight front desk operations and daily financial reconciliation procedures. This position serves as the primary hotel representative during overnight hours, ensuring guest satisfaction, property security, and accurate completion of end-of-day accounting and reporting functions. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Guest Service Greet and assist guests in a courteous and professional manner. Complete guest check-ins and check-outs. Process reservations, cancellations, and room changes. Answer hotel phone lines and respond to guest inquiries. Resolve guest concerns promptly and professionally. Provide information regarding hotel amenities, local attractions, restaurants, and services. Front Desk Operations Maintain an organized and professional front desk area. Verify guest information and payment methods. Process room charges, cash payments, and credit card transactions. Balance cash drawers and maintain accurate records. Monitor lobby activity and ensure a safe guest environment. Night Audit Functions Complete daily revenue reconciliation. Audit guest accounts and resolve discrepancies. Balance all hotel departments' transactions. Generate daily operating reports. Prepare management financial reports. Complete end-of-day system rollover procedures. Reconcile cash, credit card, and electronic payment transactions. Security and Safety Conduct periodic property walks and inspections. Monitor security systems and cameras. Ensure compliance with hotel safety procedures. Respond appropriately to emergencies, guest incidents, and security concerns. Coordinate with emergency personnel when necessary. Administrative Responsibilities Prepare reports for management review. Update reservation and guest information systems. Maintain accurate documentation and records. Communicate operational issues during shift handoff. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong customer service skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Accurate cash handling and accounting abilities. Strong attention to detail. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Effective problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Basic understanding of accounting principles. QualificationsRequired High school diploma or equivalent. Customer service experience. Basic computer proficiency. Ability to work overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays. Preferred Previous hotel front desk experience. Experience with hotel property management systems (PMS). Prior cash handling or bookkeeping experience. Hospitality or tourism industry experience.
