OBJECTIVE
The Night Auditor is responsible for providing exceptional overnight guest service while ensuring the accuracy and completion of the hotel's daily financial and operational records. This position combines Front Office responsibilities with nightly accounting and audit functions, including guest check-in and check-out, account reconciliation, payment processing, report preparation, and completion of the hotel's end-of-day procedures. The Night Auditor serves as a primary point of contact for guests during overnight hours and must be comfortable working independently while maintaining a safe, professional, and welcoming environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide friendly, professional, and attentive service to all guests during overnight hours. Perform guest checkin and checkout procedures accurately and efficiently. Verify reservations, room assignments, payment methods, and guest information. Process cash, credit card, and other payment transactions accurately. Review and reconcile guest accounts, room charges, taxes, payments, and adjustments. Complete the hotel's nightly audit and endofday procedures accurately and within established timelines. Verify that all daily transactions have been properly posted and balanced. Identify discrepancies in financial records and research or report variances as appropriate. Balance Front Office transactions and ensure supporting documentation is accurate. Generate, review, and distribute required daily operational and financial reports. Prepare information and reports needed by Front Office, Accounting, Revenue Management, and hotel leadership. Maintain accurate records of all overnight transactions and activities. Answer incoming telephone calls and respond to guest questions and requests. Coordinate guest requests with Security, Engineering, Housekeeping, or other available departments. Handle guest concerns professionally and provide appropriate service recovery within established guidelines. Maintain knowledge of hotel occupancy, arrivals, departures, VIP guests, groups, events, and hotel services. Assist with reservations, room changes, and special requests as needed. Maintain the security and confidentiality of guest information, financial information, hotel keys, and sensitive records. Monitor the Front Office and lobby during overnight hours and immediately report unusual activity or safety concerns. Follow all emergency, safety, security, and incidentreporting procedures. Maintain a clean, organized, and professional Front Office area. Prepare the Front Office for the morning shift and communicate important information during shift transition. Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

General Knowledge Complete the daily system rollover/endofday process. Reconcile room revenue and other applicable hotel revenue. Verify payment postings, deposits, adjustments, and account balances. Review guest folios for accuracy and investigate discrepancies when identified. Ensure required reports are completed and distributed to appropriate departments. Maintain organized audit documentation according to hotel procedures. Immediately communicate significant discrepancies or financial concerns to management.
