Payroll Manager Santa Anita Convalescent Hospital -
Temple City, CA Pay Rate:
$33.00-$35.00 per hour Job Summary Santa Anita Convalescent Hospital is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll Manager to oversee the facility's day-to-day payroll and timekeeping operations. The Payroll Manager will ensure employees are paid accurately and on time while serving as the primary resource for payroll and timekeeping questions. This position works closely with Human Resources, department heads, and facility leadership to resolve payroll issues, maintain accurate timekeeping records, monitor overtime and meal penalties, and ensure compliance with company policies and applicable payroll requirements. Key Responsibilities Manage day-to-day payroll operations and ensure accurate and timely payroll processing. Review employee time records for accuracy, including missed punches, overtime, and meal penalties. Work closely with department heads to identify and resolve timekeeping discrepancies. Serve as the primary point of contact for employees and department heads regarding payroll and timekeeping matters. Research and resolve payroll discrepancies and escalate complex issues when necessary. Process manual and off-cycle payroll checks. Enroll and maintain employees in the facility's electronic timekeeping and biometric systems. Monitor overtime and assist department leaders in reducing unnecessary overtime and timekeeping errors. Ensure payroll records are accurate, complete, and properly maintained. Train employees and department heads on payroll, timekeeping, and related procedures. Implement and maintain payroll procedures and internal controls. Collaborate with Human Resources regarding employee payroll and timekeeping issues. Assist with payroll audits, reporting, and other payroll-related projects. Maintain confidentiality of employee payroll and personal information. Stay informed of applicable payroll policies, regulations, and company procedures. Provide guidance and support to employees and leadership regarding payroll-related questions. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum 2 years of payroll experience ; healthcare or skilled nursing experience preferred. Experience with ADP payroll systems strongly preferred. Experience with electronic timekeeping and biometric systems. Strong understanding of payroll processes, overtime, timekeeping, and meal-period requirements. Experience working in a fast-paced, employee-focused environment. Previous experience managing or overseeing payroll operations preferred. High school diploma or equivalent required; payroll, accounting, or HR education/certification is a plus. Professional Skills Strong attention to detail and commitment to payroll accuracy. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality when handling sensitive payroll information. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet payroll deadlines. Strong training and coaching skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, email, and other standard office applications . Ability to adapt to changing processes, systems, and organizational needs.
