This role is ideal for someone who brings deep knowledge of union construction payroll, strong command of compliance requirements, and the ability to guide a payroll team while working closely with external processing partners. The successful candidate will combine accuracy, sound judgment, and a service-minded approach to ensure payroll is delivered correctly, on schedule, and in alignment with company standards.
Responsibilities:
  • Direct full-cycle payroll activities, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time across regular payroll cycles and special payments.
  • Maintain and review employee payroll data, including compensation adjustments, position updates, withholding changes, and deduction elections.
  • Investigate payroll issues, correct discrepancies promptly, and perform recurring audits to strengthen accuracy and compliance.
  • Lead daily payroll operations in accordance with established policies, internal controls, and applicable wage and tax regulations.
  • Supervise and support a small payroll team, providing guidance, prioritization, and quality oversight.
  • Prepare and submit payroll-related tax filings, garnishment remittances, and required weekly payment activities.
  • Coordinate quarterly and year-end payroll tax reporting to meet all filing deadlines and reporting obligations.
  • Oversee union payroll reporting requirements and contribute to certified payroll documentation when needed.
  • Partner with external payroll providers to manage processing workflows, resolve issues, and improve service execution.
