Jobs › Waltham, MA › Payroll Supervisor/Manager/Director Robert Half Payroll Supervisor/Manager/Director Waltham, MA Apply Description We are looking for an experienced payroll leader to oversee accurate and timely payroll operations for a large employee population in Waltham, Massachusetts. This role is responsible for managing end-to-end payroll activities across multiple states, maintaining compliance with applicable regulations, and supporting a dependable bi-monthly payroll cycle. The ideal candidate brings strong expertise with ADP Workforce Now and a hands-on approach to process oversight, reporting, and issue resolution.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the complete payroll process from data review through final distribution for a workforce of more than 500 employees.
• Manage bi-monthly payroll schedules and ensure all payments, deductions, and adjustments are processed accurately and on time.
• Administer multi-state payroll activities while monitoring compliance with federal, state, and local wage and tax requirements.
• Oversee payroll operations within ADP Workforce Now, including audits, validations, and reporting.
• Review employee pay changes, bonuses, garnishments, benefits deductions, and tax updates to confirm proper payroll treatment.
• Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies by partnering with HR, finance, and other internal stakeholders.
• Maintain payroll records and prepare reports that support internal controls, reconciliations, and leadership review.
• Support payroll-related process improvements and assist with system or workflow changes when needed. Requirements
• Proven experience leading full-cycle payroll operations for an employee population of 500 or more.
• Strong working knowledge of multi-state payroll practices and payroll tax compliance requirements.
• Hands-on experience using ADP Workforce Now in a payroll leadership or administration capacity.
• Demonstrated ability to manage recurring bi-monthly payroll cycles with a high degree of accuracy.
• Solid understanding of payroll reconciliations, deductions, earnings adjustments, and recordkeeping standards.
• Ability to analyze payroll issues, identify root causes, and implement effective resolutions.
• Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to work effectively across departments.
