Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to oversee all aspects of payroll processing and labor cost reporting across the organization. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate, timely payroll for both office and union field employees while maintaining full compliance with federal, state, local, and union regulations. The Payroll Manager will also lead process improvements, supervise payroll staff, and serve as a key partner to HR, Accounting, and Operations. Key Responsibilities Payroll Processing Manage weekly office payroll and provide high ‑ level support for weekly •union field payroll Calculate wages, salaries, bonuses, deductions, and adjustments for exempt, non ‑ exempt, and field employees Calculate and process monthly commissions and vehicle allowances for eligible employees Handle employee onboarding and offboarding from a payroll perspective Maintain accurate, current payroll records Ensure timely weekly payment of payroll taxes Union Payroll & Reporting Prepare and submit accurate monthly union reports and payments Develop and maintain a working knowledge of applicable collective bargaining agreements Ensure compliance with all union payroll rules and reporting requirements Mileage & Vehicle Programs Process monthly fuel usage payments Compile vehicle allowance, fuel usage, and mileage data for taxable fringe benefit reporting on employee W ‑ 2s
Certified Payroll & Labor Compliance:
Record and maintain weekly LCPTracker data Assist and train billing staff on utilization and certified payroll requirements. Quarterly & Annual Reporting Prepare and file payroll tax reports including SUTA, 940, 941, and state withholding taxes Prepare and distribute annual W ‑ 2s Prepare and submit 1095 ‑ B and 1095 ‑ C filings Oversee annual union rate and burden updates. Compliance Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local payroll laws Maintain compliance with union agreements and regulations Stay informed on changes to payroll legislation and best practices. Leadership & Supervision Supervise and support a payroll team of two direct reports Train, mentor, and develop payroll staff Establish and maintain payroll policies, procedures, and controls. Reporting & Collaboration Prepare payroll reports and analyze labor cost data Identify and resolve payroll discrepancies Collaborate closely with HR, Accounting, labor coordinators, and other departments Benefits Administration Support Ensure accurate processing of benefit deductions Reconcile benefit payments to deductions Ensure accuracy of 401(k) deferrals and profit ‑ sharing contributions Qualifications Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred 5+ years of progressive payroll processing and management experience Strong understanding of payroll laws, regulations, and best practices Experience supporting union payroll required Skills & Competencies Proficiency in payroll systems, accounting software, and Microsoft Excel Strong analytical, organizational, and problem ‑ solving skills Proven leadership and people ‑ management abilities Effective communication skills with employees, leadership, and cross ‑ functional teams High attention to detail with strong follow ‑ through

Compensation:
$90,000 – $120,000/year #
