Job Description:
Overview:
The Payroll Manager will lead payroll operations for a large, multi-site organization. This role is responsible for overseeing end-to-end payroll processing for a high-volume, multi-state workforce while ensuring compliance, accuracy, and timeliness across all payroll functions.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and process weekly payroll for 2,000+ salaried and hourly employees across multiple plant and distribution locations Generate, analyze, and maintain payroll reports using Excel, ADP Workforce Now, and/or Paycom to support accounting, finance, and audit requirements Ensure compliance with federal and state wage & hour laws, tax regulations, and company policies Oversee payroll-related reconciliations, audits, and recordkeeping to ensure data integrity and accuracy Administer payroll activities including garnishments, terminations, tax notices, and benefit deductions Partner with HR and Finance to calculate and process payments to benefit providers (health, retirement, etc.) Respond to inquiries from plant leadership, operations teams, and employees, providing reporting, analysis, and issue resolution Produce and distribute scheduled and ad hoc payroll reports to leadership using advanced Excel functionality Supervise and mentor payroll staff while serving as a key resource to plant and operations management on payroll processes Support additional finance and accounting initiatives as needed
Qualifications:
7+ years of high-volume payroll experience in manufacturing, distribution, or industrial environments Hands-on experience with ADP Workforce Now and/or Paycom Strong knowledge of multi-state payroll, compliance, and regulatory requirements Experience with union payroll and/or multi-location operations is a plus Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, reporting) High level of confidentiality, data integrity, and attention to detail Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
