Job Description
Description We are looking for an experienced Payroll specialist to assist with payroll operations for a financial services organization serving approximately 400 to 600 employees. This Long-term Contract position is fully remote and is offering the opportunity to assist with accurate, compliant payroll processing across multiple states. The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on payroll expertise along with Workday knowledge and the ability to maintain efficient payroll administration in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Lead end-to-end payroll administration for a multi-state employee population, ensuring timely and accurate processing for roughly 400 to 600 team members.
- Manage payroll activities in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, while maintaining organized records and audit-ready documentation.
- Use Workday and ADP Workforce Now to review payroll data, validate employee changes, and resolve processing discrepancies.
- Partner with HR, finance, and other internal stakeholders to address payroll questions, support reporting needs, and maintain data accuracy.
- Monitor payroll adjustments related to earnings, deductions, taxes, and leave activity to ensure employees are paid correctly.
- Investigate and resolve payroll issues promptly, including employee inquiries, calculation errors, and system-related exceptions.
- Support payroll continuity during employee leave coverage and assist with related process updates or operational changes as needed. Requirements +
- Proven experience managing full-cycle payroll operations in a multi-state environment. +
- Background processing payroll for employee populations exceeding 500 workers. +
- Hands-on experience with Workday in a payroll capacity. +
- Proficiency using One Source Vertical for payroll administration. +
- Strong understanding of payroll regulations, tax withholdings, deductions, and compliance requirements. +
- Ability to analyze payroll data carefully and resolve issues with accuracy and discretion. + Previous experience with RSUs (Restricted Stock Units) in a pay role setting. +
- Strong communication and coordination skills for working with cross-functional teams in a remote setting.
