Job Title:
Payroll Supervisor Job Summary The Payroll Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating payroll processes to ensure timely and accurate payment of wages and salaries. This role supervises the payroll team, maintains compliance with all applicable regulations, and contributes to process improvements. The Payroll Supervisor serves as a key point of contact for payroll-related inquiries and supports internal and external audits. Key Responsibilities Supervise and guide the payroll team to ensure proper processing of payroll cycles. Ensure accuracy of payroll data, including salaries, benefits, taxes, and deductions. Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws. Oversee preparation and submission of payroll reports and filings. Resolve payroll discrepancies and respond to employee inquiries in a timely manner. Work closely with HR and finance departments regarding payroll processes and policies. Support internal and external payroll audits by providing necessary information and reports. Keep up-to-date with changes in payroll laws and best practices. Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements and system enhancements. Train and develop payroll staff, providing performance feedback as needed. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience. Minimum of 3 years of payroll processing experience, including supervisory or team leadership responsibilities. Strong knowledge of applicable payroll laws, regulations, and compliance requirements. Proficiency in payroll software (such as ADP, Paychex, SAP, or similar systems). Excellent organizational and communication skills. High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information. Preferred Qualifications Payroll certification (such as CPP—Certified Payroll Professional, or FPC—Fundamental Payroll Certification). Prior experience implementing or optimizing payroll systems. Experience in multi-state or international payroll processing. Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and data analysis.
