Role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Manager (Healthcare) to lead and oversee all aspects of payroll operations for our US-based workforce. This role will be responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing while partnering closely with HR, Finance, and other teams. The ideal candidate is a hands-on payroll professional with strong knowledge of US payroll regulations, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growing organization. This is an on-site position based in our Houston, Texas office .
Key Responsibilities:
Manage end-to-end payroll processing for all US employees, ensuring accuracy and timely payments. Oversee payroll operations, including regular payroll runs, off-cycle payments, bonuses, commissions, deductions, garnishments, and adjustments. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws, tax regulations, and wage and hour requirements. Oversee payroll tax filings, payments, reconciliations, and reporting obligations. Review payroll reports and perform regular audits to identify and resolve discrepancies. Partner closely with HR and Finance to ensure accurate employee data, compensation changes, benefits deductions, and payroll-related accounting. Manage and maintain payroll records, documentation, and internal controls. Serve as a primary point of contact for employees regarding payroll questions and resolve payroll-related issues in a timely and professional manner. Lead year-end payroll activities, including W-2s, 1099s, reconciliations, and other required filings. Monitor changes in payroll legislation and ensure payroll processes remain compliant. Identify opportunities to streamline, automate, and improve payroll processes and systems. Support payroll system implementations, integrations, upgrades, and process enhancements as needed. Lead, mentor, and develop payroll team members, as applicable. Maintain strict confidentiality of employee compensation and other sensitive payroll information.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. 5+ years of progressive payroll experience, preferably within the healthcare industry. 2+ years of experience in a payroll management or leadership capacity preferred. Strong knowledge of US federal, state, and local payroll laws and tax regulations. Experience processing payroll for a multi-state workforce preferred. Experience with payroll software such as ADP, Paychex, Workday, UKG, or similar systems. Strong Excel skills and experience working with payroll reports and reconciliations. Excellent attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict payroll deadlines in a fast-paced environment. CPP or FPC certification is a plus. Healthcare industry experience is a plus.
