PAYROLL & BENEFITS CLERK

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Payroll Administration Process weekly payroll accurately and within established deadlines. Ensure employee changes including new hires, terminations, promotions, transfers, pay-rate changes, and department changes are processed as required. Maintain accurate payroll records and employee files. Process payroll deductions including taxes, insurance premiums, retirement contributions, garnishments, and other authorized deductions. Respond to employee questions regarding paychecks, deductions and payroll discrepancies. Research and resolve payroll errors in a timely and confidential manner. Assist with payroll reporting, audits, reconciliations, and year-end payroll activities. Maintain confidentiality of employee compensation and personal information. Benefits Administration Assist employees with benefit enrollment, eligibility, changes, and general benefit questions. Process new-hire benefit enrollments and qualifying life-event changes. Maintain accurate benefit records and employee deductions. Assist with administration of medical, dental, vision, life insurance, STD, Hospital, Accident and Critical Programs, 401K plans. Coordinate with benefit providers and insurance carriers to resolve employee issues. Assist with annual open enrollment activities and employee communications. Monitor benefit deductions to ensure they correspond with employee elections. Assist with required benefits documentation and reporting.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required High school diploma or equivalent. 2-5 years of payroll, benefits, accounting, or related administrative experience. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to handle confidential employee information professionally. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively with employees, supervisors, managers, and outside vendors. Ability to meet strict payroll deadlines. Preferred Previous experience in automotive, manufacturing, warehouse, or industrial environments. Experience with payroll or HRIS systems. Experience administering employee benefits. Knowledge of federal and state payroll and wage-and-hour requirements.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Payroll processing and reconciliation. Employee benefits administration. HRIS/payroll software. Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office. Basic understanding of payroll taxes and deductions. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Excellent attention to detail. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Strong interpersonal and customer-service skills. Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Rate of Pay:
$15-$17 per hour
