Job Description

Sabel Steel is seeking to hire a motivated and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist. The primary function of the Payroll Specialist role is to manage our company's payroll system efficiently and to ensure our employees are compensated correctly and promptly.
Key Responsibilities:
Collecting and verifying timekeeping information for all employees in the designated system. Calculating pay according to hours worked incorporating overtime, vacations, sick leaves, and other factors. Issuing and distributing paychecks, managing direct deposits, benefits withholding, payroll deductions, garnishments and levies, flexible spending accounts, federal and state payroll tax deposits and returns, new hire reports, federal payroll summaries, W-2s, wage and hour law compliance, and other payroll-related operations. Preparing and submitting reports on payroll with summary of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, and non-taxable wages on a regular interval. Ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations and guidelines. Addressing employee's pay-related concerns and providing accurate payroll information. Assisting in payroll accounting, transactions, and reporting activities.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting, or equivalent experience. Proven experience as a payroll specialist or payroll manager. Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals and payroll best practices. Very good knowledge of legislation and regulations of the field. Proficient in MS Office (especially Excel) and good knowledge of relevant software (e.g., Payforce). Trustworthy with attention to confidentiality. Outstanding organizational ability with great attention to detail. Excellent communication skills. Professional certification (e.g., Certified Payroll Professional) is a plus.
