M.D. Atkinson Company, Inc. provides Property and Asset Management services throughout California. Headquartered in Bakersfield, we manage a diverse portfolio of commercial and residential properties. Our focus is on understanding and supporting the business needs and objectives of our clients while providing the highest level of service to our Owners, Tenants, and Residents. We are seeking a Payroll and Accounting Clerk to join our team. This position provides support to our Human Resources and Accounting departments and is responsible for assisting with accurate and timely payroll processing, accounting functions, employee records, and general administrative duties. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, dependable, and comfortable handling confidential information. Strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment are essential. Payroll Responsibilities
  • Process semi-monthly and other scheduled payrolls accurately and timely.
  • Review employee time records, timesheets, PTO, overtime, deductions, and other payroll-related information.
  • Verify payroll information and resolve discrepancies before payroll submission.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee and payroll records.
  • Process new hires, terminations, pay changes, deductions, and other payroll adjustments.
  • Assist with payroll tax filings, reports, and related documentation.
  • Assist with payroll reporting, reconciliations, and recordkeeping.
  • Respond to employee questions regarding payroll, deductions, timekeeping, and related matters.
  • Ensure payroll records are maintained in accordance with company procedures and applicable laws.
  • Perform other payroll and administrative duties as assigned. Accounting Responsibilities
  • Assist with maintaining owner, vendor, and tenant insurance records.
  • Maintain organized and accurate accounting files and records.
  • Assist with tenant- and property-related administrative transactions.
  • Provide general accounting support to the Accounting Department.
  • Assist with reports, reconciliations, data entry, and other accounting-related tasks as assigned.
  • Research and assist in resolving accounting discrepancies when needed. Qualifications
  • 2+ years payroll processing experience required . High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Knowledge of payroll procedures and basic accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Experience with accounting or payroll software preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Pay:
$25.00 - $28.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
