Sacramento, CA Compensation:
$30-$36 per hour
Schedule:
Full-time | 100% In-Office Position Summary The Payroll Coordinator is responsible for supporting bi-weekly payroll functions for a nonprofit organization in Sacaramento, CA. This role works closely with the leadership team to ensure accurate, compliant, and timely payroll processing in accordance with federal, state, and prevailing wage requirements. The position supports both internal operations and external reporting and some accounting duties as well. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Process weekly and bi-weekly payroll accurately and on time. Maintain payroll systems, employee data, and timekeeping records. Review and validate employee timecards, leave balances, and payroll changes. Process reimbursements, deductions, garnishments, and benefit contributions. Audit payroll registers and reconcile payroll and benefit accounts to the general ledger. Prepare payroll journal entries and coordinate payroll disbursements. Calculate and file payroll taxes and related electronic submissions. Prepare retirement and benefit contribution reports. Complete annual W-2 processing and distribution. Compliance & Reporting Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor and payroll regulations. Maintain accurate and confidential payroll records. Prepare payroll reports for management, finance, auditors, and funding agencies. Support internal and external audits, including workers' compensation and benefits reviews. Qualifications Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance, or a related field OR 3+ years of progressive payroll or accounting experience, preferably in a nonprofit environment. Skills & Abilities Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. High attention to detail and accuracy with financial data. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work collaboratively in a mission-driven organization.
