Job Description

Description We are seeking an experienced Certified Payroll Specialist to take ownership of the company's entire payroll function for a construction organization. This is a temp-to-hire opportunity and is ideal for a hands-on payroll professional who is comfortable working independently and managing all aspects of payroll and payroll compliance. This individual will serve as the primary point of contact for payroll, overseeing the process from start to finish while ensuring accurate and timely payroll for the organization's employees and compliance with construction-specific requirements. Key Responsibilities

+ Own and manage the full payroll function for the organization

+ Process payroll from start to finish, including timekeeping, payroll calculations, deductions, taxes, and reporting

+ Prepare and submit certified payroll reports for construction projects

+ Ensure compliance with prevailing wage, union, and labor requirements

+ Review employee timecards, job codes, pay rates, overtime, and project allocations

+ Track and reconcile payroll by employee, job, and project

+ Maintain accurate payroll records and documentation for audits

+ Research and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee questions

+ Partner with project managers, HR, and accounting to ensure accurate payroll and labor reporting

+ Stay current on applicable payroll and construction compliance requirements Requirements Qualifications + 3+ years of hands-on payroll experience, preferably in construction

+ Strong experience with certified payroll and prevailing wage requirements

+ Experience with DIR, Davis-Bacon, union payroll, or similar construction labor compliance

+ Strong understanding of payroll taxes, deductions, overtime, multiple pay rates, and job costing

+ Ability to independently manage all aspects of payroll with minimal oversight

+ Highly organized and detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills

+ Comfortable being the go-to payroll resource for the organization

+ Strong Excel and payroll systems experience
