Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Payroll Specialist to join our dynamic finance team. In this vital role, you will manage the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring accurate and timely compensation for all employees while maintaining strict compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws. Duties Process payroll accurately using advanced payroll systems such as Workday, Paychex, ADP, Kronos, UltiPro, PeopleSoft, Ceridian, and other supported platforms. Ensure compliance with employment and labor laws by staying current on tax law changes and governmental regulations affecting payroll processing. Reconcile payroll accounts regularly through analysis of spreadsheets, general ledger entries, and account reconciliation procedures. Handle payroll tax calculations, filings, and reporting in accordance with federal and state requirements. Maintain detailed records of employee hours, time & attendance data from various systems including Kronos and other time management tools. Collaborate with HRIS teams to update employee data in HR systems and ensure data accuracy across all platforms. Support payroll management activities such as journal entries, double entry bookkeeping, and financial software updates for accurate reporting. Safeguard sensitive information by adhering to confidentiality protocols during data entry and record handling processes. Assist with audits related to governmental accounting standards and internal controls to ensure compliance. Provide analysis support for payroll-related inquiries, account reconciliation tasks, and financial reporting needs. Experience Proven experience working with payroll systems such as Workday, Paychex, ADP, Kronos, UltiPro, or PeopleSoft is essential. Strong background in corporate accounting or finance with a focus on payroll management or related financial functions. Familiarity with HRIS platforms and time & attendance systems used for payroll processing. Knowledge of employment & labor law as well as payroll tax regulations at federal, state, and local levels. Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information responsibly while managing multiple tasks efficiently. Proficiency in spreadsheets (Excel or equivalent), accounting software, and governmental accounting standards is highly desirable. Analytical skills for account reconciliation, journal entries, general ledger reconciliation, debits & credits are necessary for success in this role. Experience supporting technical aspects of payroll systems including data entry accuracy and troubleshooting is preferred.
