Prevailing Wage Specialist Robert Half - 3.9 Santa Ana, CA Job Details Temp-to-hire | Contract $30 - $34 an hour 18 hours ago Benefits Disability insurance Dental insurance 401(k) Vision insurance Qualifications Labor law compliance Contract documentation review Contract interpretation Labor contracts Full Job Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Prevailing Wage Specialist to support payroll operations for a workforce that includes both union and non-union employees in California. This contract position with permanent potential is ideal for someone with strong knowledge of full-cycle payroll, prevailing wage rules, and fringe benefit administration who can maintain accuracy in a high-volume environment. The person in this role will help ensure payroll practices align with labor regulations, collective bargaining obligations, and company standards while delivering timely and reliable processing.
Responsibilities:
Manage end-to-end payroll processing for a large employee population, including workers covered by union agreements as well as non-union staff. Review payroll activity to confirm compliance with prevailing wage requirements, labor regulations, and applicable contractual obligations. Calculate and reconcile fringe benefit amounts, deductions, and other wage-related components to support accurate employee compensation. Interpret union contract terms and apply them correctly to earnings, dues, reporting, and related payroll transactions. Prepare and maintain payroll records, union documentation, and wage reports with a strong focus on precision and audit readiness. Investigate payroll discrepancies, resolve employee pay issues, and coordinate corrections in a timely manner. Support reporting and tracking activities within payroll systems, including updates tied to internal tools and operational processes. Partner with internal teams to help maintain consistent payroll procedures, meet deadlines, and uphold policy compliance. At least 3 years of experience in payroll, with hands-on responsibility for full-cycle processing. Background handling payroll for large employee groups, including environments with more than 500 employees. Demonstrated experience working with union payroll, union dues, union reporting, and collective bargaining agreements. Strong understanding of prevailing wage standards and fringe benefit calculations. Familiarity with payroll administration for both union and non-union workforces. Ability to interpret payroll regulations and apply them accurately in day-to-day processing. High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
