Full-Time Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the Payroll Manager the Payroll Specialist will process as weekly, review and maintain employee time records.
Essential Job Functions:
Enters, maintains, and/or processes information in the payroll system; information may include employees' hourly rates, salaries, or other compensation, time worked, paid leave and holidays, deductions and withholding, address changes, and other information. Ensures proper processing of payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, charitable contributions, and other deductions. Reconciles payroll to the general ledger and monthly bank statements. Contact employees to complete timesheets accordingly. Inform supervisor of any timekeeping concerns and/or discrepancies. Issues, or reissues, physical or replacement checks or direct deposits due to payroll errors or final discharge. Records and processes federal and state payroll tax deposits. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll software. Discretion and confidentiality Outstanding organizational and time management skills California driver's license and insurability; Bilingual English/Spanish (preferred); Self-motivator and able to meet deadlines High school diploma or equivalent required. Two years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping with at least six months of experience in payroll preferred. Valid California Driver's License and proof of personal auto insurance is required. Hire is contingent upon agency insurability;
Education:
High School Diploma or GED (required). Minimum of 2 years of experience required.
