Job Overview We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Bookkeeper & Payroll Specialist to join our dynamic finance team. In this vital role, you will manage comprehensive bookkeeping duties, ensure accurate payroll processing, and maintain precise financial records. Your expertise will support our organization's financial health, compliance with accounting standards, and smooth operational flow. Responsibilities Maintain and update the general ledger using accounting software such as QuickBooks Online, Xero, Sage, or similar systems Process payroll accurately and on time, including tax filings and compliance with payroll regulations Reconcile bank statements and perform account reconciliations for accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other ledger accounts Prepare journal entries, including debits & credits, to ensure proper recording of financial transactions in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) Manage accounts payable and receivable processes to ensure timely payments and collections Conduct balance sheet reconciliation and analyze account activity for discrepancies or errors Generate detailed financial reports and assist in budgeting processes for various departments or projects Support governmental accounting requirements and tax reporting obligations as needed Utilize spreadsheets and financial software to streamline data entry, analysis, and reporting tasks Assist with audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations of financial records Requirements Proven experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or finance. Strong proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks (including QuickBooks Online), Xero, Sage, or similar systems Solid understanding of accounting standards (GAAP), double-entry bookkeeping, journal entries, and account analysis Experience with payroll processing including tax filings and compliance requirements Knowledge of governmental accounting practices is a plus Excellent skills in bank reconciliation, account reconciliation, and balance sheet reconciliation Ability to work efficiently with spreadsheets and financial report writing tools Strong attention to detail with high accuracy in data entry (10 key typing skills) Effective communication skills for collaboration across teams and external auditors Technical knowledge of financial concepts such as debits & credits, general ledger accounting, and budget management Join our team to help us uphold the highest standards of financial integrity while supporting our organization's growth. Pay:
$25.00 - $31.00 per hour
