Job Description
Description We are looking for a Payroll Specialist to join a construction organization in Colorado Springs, Colorado in a contract-to-permanent capacity. This position will take ownership of weekly payroll activities with a strong emphasis on accuracy, follow-through, and timely completion. The role also offers the opportunity to expand into broader HR administrative support as business needs evolve.
Responsibilities:
- Administer weekly payroll, ensuring accurate pay for both hourly and salaried staff.
- Collect, review, and validate timekeeping records, with particular attention to submissions from field personnel.
- Communicate with employees and supervisors to resolve missing entries, incorrect hours, or incomplete timecard details before payroll deadlines.
- Monitor and maintain organizational tracking related to payroll changes, requests, and supporting updates.
- Prepare payroll reconciliations and generate recurring reports that support general ledger and accounting needs.
- Keep payroll processing on schedule each week by managing priorities and completing critical tasks within established timelines.
- Provide administrative support to HR functions as the position broadens beyond payroll responsibilities.
- Safeguard sensitive employee and payroll information while maintaining precise and organized records. Requirements
- Prior experience processing payroll, preferably in construction, field-based operations, or another high-volume weekly payroll environment.
- Demonstrated ability to manage timecards, review payroll details, and follow up on discrepancies with employees or managers.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle recurring deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with payroll, accounting, and HR partners.
- Experience supporting payroll reporting and related tracking activities is preferred.
- Familiarity with Vista or Viewpoint is helpful but not required.
- Knowledge of full-cycle payroll processes; exposure to multi-state payroll and ADP Workforce Now is a plus.
