Job Description
Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist/Accountant to join our finance team. In this vital role, you will oversee payroll processing, ensure compliance with labor and tax laws, and manage various accounting functions. Your expertise will help maintain accurate financial records, streamline payroll operations, and support our organization's commitment to transparency and efficiency. Responsibilities Process payroll accurately and efficiently using payroll systems such as Workday, ADP, Paychex, or UltiPro, ensuring timely payments for all employees. Maintain and update employee records within HRIS platforms and payroll software, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality. Reconcile payroll accounts and perform journal entries to ensure proper general ledger integration in accounting software like QuickBooks or PeopleSoft. Ensure compliance with employment laws, labor regulations, and tax laws by staying current on relevant legal updates and implementing necessary adjustments. Prepare payroll reports, analyze discrepancies, and resolve issues related to time & attendance systems such as Kronos or Time & Attendance systems. Collaborate with benefits administration teams to process employee benefits and handle related payroll deductions accurately. Support internal audits by maintaining detailed records of payroll transactions, tax filings, and account reconciliations. Skills Extensive experience with payroll systems including Workday, ADP, Paychex, Kronos, UltiPro, Ceridian, or similar platforms. Strong knowledge of corporate accounting principles, including double entry bookkeeping, journal entries, debits & credits, and general ledger reconciliation. Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, PeopleSoft, or other financial management tools. Deep understanding of employment & labor law, payroll tax regulations, and labor law compliance requirements. Skilled in using spreadsheets for data analysis, reporting, and reconciliation tasks. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism. Excellent analysis skills with attention to detail for account reconciliation and financial data review. Experience with time & attendance systems and payroll processing within diverse organizational settings.
