Wesley Village is a nonprofit Life Plan Community serving seniors in Macomb, Illinois. Our campus offers a full continuum of care including independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing, and home-based services. Position Overview:
Wesley Village is seeking a motivated, organized, and detail-oriented Human Resources/Payroll Generalist to join our Business Office team. This full-time position is responsible for assisting with the daily administration of payroll, human resources, employee benefits, and regulatory compliance for approximately 135 employees. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance in a healthcare environment. The successful candidate will work closely with the Business Office Manager and department leaders while supporting our mission of providing exceptional care to older adults.
Key Responsibilities:
Process bi-weekly payroll and maintain accurate payroll records. Maintain employee personnel files, ensuring all required documentation is complete and current. Coordinate new employee on-boarding, including employment paperwork, orientation, payroll setup, and benefits enrollment. Assist with recruiting activities, including job postings, interview scheduling, and reference checks. Administer employee benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, and benefit changes. Track employee physicals, TB testing, Healthcare Worker Registry verification, professional licenses, and other required compliance documentation. Coordinate annual employee compliance requirements and maintain audit-ready personnel records. Assist employees with payroll, benefits, and general human resources questions. Process employee status changes, wage adjustments, and leave documentation. Prepare payroll and human resources reports as requested. Maintain strict confidentiality of employee and payroll information. Provide general administrative support to the Business Office and assist with special projects as assigned
Qualifications:
Coursework, training, or experience in Human Resources, Business, Accounting, or a related field preferred. Previous payroll, human resources, or office administration experience preferred. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism. Strong communication and customer service skills. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks while meeting deadlines. Positive attitude and willingness to learn. Strong communication, customer service skills, and willingness to learn Preferred (but not required): Experience processing payroll. Experience with employee benefits administration. Familiarity with QuickBooks Payroll, PointClickCare, UKG, or similar payroll and HR systems. Knowledge of Illinois employment regulations and IDPH personnel requirements. Experience maintaining personnel files and regulatory compliance documentation.
