Job Description

Overview The County Clerk plays a vital role in the efficient operation of county government services. This position is responsible for processing payroll, managing employee benefits, maintaining public records, vital records, elections, providing exceptional customer service to residents, and much more. The ideal candidate will possess strong math skills, payroll processing, clerical skills, attention to detail, ability to multitask, work independently and as a team, and a commitment to serving the community. Responsibilities Process bi-weekly payroll. Process and pay all payroll-related expenses. Manage employee records and benefits. Provide New Hires with documents for payroll and benefits. Provide exit packet to employees leaving employment. Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports to be filed with State and Federal agencies. Reconcile office bank accounts. Accounts payable clerk backup. Assist with elections. Assist the public with inquiries regarding county services and provide information on procedures and requirements. Requirements Bookkeeping and/or accounting experience required . Full-cycle payroll processing experience required ; including employee setup, payroll entry, tax calculations, payroll tax filings and payments, quarterly and annual reporting, W-2 preparation, and compliance with federal and state payroll laws. Employee benefits experience preferred. Proven experience in clerical or office roles with a strong emphasis on customer service. Proficiency in data entry with high attention to detail . Excellent computer literacy skills, including familiarity with office software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Word and Excel used daily). Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal with good phone etiquette. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment. This position requires a dedicated individual who is passionate about serving the community while ensuring the smooth operation of county functions.

$18.00 - $20.00 per hour
