Job Description
Description We are looking for a Senior Payroll Specialist to support accurate, timely payroll operations for a large and diverse employee population in Lenexa, Kansas. This is a Long-term Contract position suited for a payroll specialist who can manage complex pay processes across multiple states while maintaining compliance with wage, tax, and union requirements. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in end-to-end payroll administration, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work confidently within high-volume payroll environments.
Responsibilities:
- Administer complete payroll processing from initial data review through final submission, ensuring employees are paid correctly and on schedule.
- Manage payroll activities for employees working in multiple states, applying appropriate tax withholdings, deductions, and jurisdictional requirements.
- Process payroll for a workforce exceeding 500 employees while maintaining accuracy across earnings, adjustments, and benefit deductions.
- Review and apply prevailing wage rules and certified payroll reporting requirements to support contract and regulatory obligations.
- Handle union payroll calculations, including contract-based pay rules, deductions, and related compliance standards.
- Audit payroll records to identify discrepancies, resolve exceptions, and maintain reliable documentation for internal and external review.
- Partner with HR, finance, and operational teams to gather payroll changes and ensure employee data is reflected correctly in each cycle.
- Support payroll system activities within ADP Workforce Now, including validation of entries, reporting, and troubleshooting payroll-related issues. Requirements
- Proven experience managing full-cycle payroll in a high-volume environment.
- Hands-on expertise with multi-state payroll administration and related compliance requirements.
- Ability to process payroll accurately for organizations with more than 500 employees.
- Knowledge of prevailing wage regulations, certified payroll reporting, and payroll compliance practices.
- Experience administering union payroll and interpreting payroll rules tied to labor agreements.
- Proficiency with ADP Workforce Now and standard payroll reporting tools.
- Certified Payroll (CPP) designation, or comparable payroll credentials, is strongly preferred.
