Responsible for supporting, assisting and guiding in the processing of all payrolls to ensure accurate, timely and compliant outcomes including ongoing payrolls and year end. Prepares a broad variety of reports and dashboards to support various business needs; Supporting and maintaining current payroll system setup; updates as required for new earnings codes, calendar year changes etc. As well as providing technical support for trouble shooting system issues, working with system users and IT staff and/or vendors to analyze and resolve system problems. Monitor and report on adherence to provisions of union collective bargaining agreements, legislation, policies & procedures (as applicable) and initiate changes to payroll system(s) accordingly. Reporting, Continuous Improvement, Engaging with Partners and all stakeholders. Help set priorities within the department. Interpreting payroll policy and procedures to field and corporate locations. Identify process issues, clearly define business requirements, and work with cross functional teams to develop, test, implement, and support solutions. Leads and contributes to improvement initiatives. Assist Payroll and/or Human Resources Staff with interfaces to/from vendors, and support interfaces to payroll and other internal systems. Analyze and audit data entry and imports and perform pay period reconciliations, monthly and periodic audits/reconciliations etc. and report discrepancies to payroll leaders as appropriate, along with applicable/required research for problem resolution. Evaluate and recommend best practice solutions. Review and sign off on manual checks, retro-active payment calculations, overpayment calculations etc. for accuracy and adherence to internal controls and process. Generate standard, custom and ad hoc monthly/quarterly/annual reports &/or analytics for field/operations, HR, Accounting etc. as well as external stakeholders, as required. Create and maintain payroll reports according to system codes and requirements with accuracy and timeliness. Serve as Payroll subject matter expert by staying abreast of legislation, policy, best practices. Recommend control improvements by identifying risks and drafting improved standardized procedures and standard operating procedures. Communicate data finding, analysis, status of projects and initiatives to management. Facilitate the timely and accurate administration of payments to unions for pension, dues, and health and welfare benefits, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and contractual agreements. Ensure data integrity and accuracy of employee and business information across all Payroll systems through periodic reviews and audits. Collaborate on pay time off (PTO) tracking/accruing as required to ensure accuracy of reporting on payroll and synchronization between Payroll and Timekeeping Systems. Prepare and process year end/ year to date updates as required for complete, accurate and timely production of annual tax forms and reporting including but not limited to taxable benefits, stock options, pay corrections after final pay of calendar year, CPP/EI/QPP/QPIP overages/shortfalls. Investigate and report on payroll GL account reconciling items and implement measures to eliminate in future. Maintaining current payroll system setup; updating as required for new earning codes, calendar year changes, etc. Including testing, update of master lists and communication to stakeholders Qualifications Bachelors degree in Human Resource/Business/Related field 5+ years of experience working in similar role Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, Highly organize with ability to prioritize between multiple tasks & deliverables, maintain confidentiality; Effective communicator with the ability to break down complex concepts into digestible information for vendors, employees, employee partners and management. Ability to work effectively under time constraints and deliver results by critical. Proven abilities in working independently and as a team; exercising initiative and good judgement. Flexible regarding changing priorities, values and seeks the opinions of diverse group of stakeholders and treats all people with respect. Knowledge and experience with Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS), Payroll System and Time solutions. Experience with Visio and PowerPoint Strong Excel skills. Experience with reporting.
