Job Description

Description We are looking for a Payroll Specialist to support a long-term contract opportunity based in Augusta, Maine. This position will oversee end-to-end payroll processing for a large employee population across multiple states while helping maintain accurate, timely pay practices. The ideal candidate brings strong payroll knowledge, confidence working in a high-volume environment, and hands-on experience with ADP Workforce Now.
Responsibilities:
  • Manage complete payroll cycles from data review through final processing for a workforce of more than 500 employees.
  • Process payroll accurately for employees working in multiple states, ensuring compliance with applicable wage and tax requirements.
  • Use ADP Workforce Now to enter, validate, and maintain payroll records, deductions, and employee updates.
  • Review timekeeping, earnings, taxes, garnishments, and benefit deductions to resolve discrepancies before payroll submission.
  • Investigate payroll issues and respond to employee or internal stakeholder questions in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Prepare payroll-related reports and support audits by maintaining organized and accurate documentation.
  • Help ensure payroll activities align with company policies as well as federal and state regulations.
  • Support payroll-related process updates or system-related changes as needed within daily operations. Requirements
  • Demonstrated experience managing full-cycle payroll from initial input through final reconciliation.
  • Background processing payroll for employees in multiple states with strong compliance awareness.
  • Hands-on experience using ADP Workforce Now in a payroll environment.
  • Proven ability to handle high-volume payroll, including populations exceeding 500 employees.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy when working with sensitive payroll data.
  • Ability to prioritize deadlines and manage recurring payroll schedules effectively.
  • Clear communication skills for resolving payroll questions and working with internal teams.
