Job Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to support payroll operations for a busy organization in Waterville, Maine. This is a Contract position for someone who can manage end-to-end payroll processing with accuracy, maintain compliance across multiple states, and contribute to related accounting tasks as needed. The ideal candidate brings strong payroll knowledge, a careful approach to recordkeeping, and the ability to work effectively in an on-site environment.
Responsibilities:
  • Process complete payroll cycles for a large employee population, ensuring timely and accurate wage payments.
  • Administer multi-state payroll activities while following applicable tax rules, wage laws, and company policies.
  • Review payroll data for discrepancies, investigate issues, and make corrections before final submission.
  • Maintain payroll records, employee deductions, earnings details, and supporting documentation with a high level of accuracy.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to address payroll questions, resolve pay-related concerns, and support smooth payroll operations.
  • Assist with accounts payable or accounts receivable tasks when needed, while prioritizing payroll deadlines and deliverables.
  • Prepare payroll-related reports and reconcile payroll information to support audits, compliance reviews, and financial accuracy.
