Algebra Full Job Description General Summary:
Responsible for the preparation of payroll and supplemental payroll reports and disbursements. Also responsible for individual pension records and calculations for retirees. Representative Duties and Responsibilities which may be considered Essential Function(s):Accounting Balances:
ledgers with payroll accounts.Compiles:
monthly/annual pension reports, 941 and w-2 tax reports, and other reports requested by supervision, auditors, and state agencies (ex- Work Comp / MESC);
Completes:
salary surveys and special reports as requested.Maintains:
all payroll records and related documents including those needed for permanent records; vacation, sick, personal, and compensatory time balances; pays and tracks disability payments of all types.Prepares:
preparing payroll in accordance with time records or appropriate data; tax payments, deductions, and necessary supporting data and form filings. Technical /Control Analyzes:
accounts to verify balanced with detailed supporting accounts/ledgers. Appropriate corrections made.Assists:
departments by preparing payroll information, answering their questions and explaining payroll procedures; employees in figuring their tax status or deductions.Informs:
employees on pension benefit options and projections. Special Items Provides support to HR Director and Budget Director with compiling data and numbers on payroll, benefits, sick/vacation/comp pay and FAC's May prepares miscellaneous billings/invoicing for the Finance Department. May be assigned unique tasks to the department within the competency level of the other tasks described in this document. Answers questions and researches items in response to inquires from auditors. Bachelor's Degree in business with substantial accounting and finance course work or equivalent. Familiarity in the use of computers required. (Must be proficient with use of Excel). Four or more years accounting or payroll experience. Preferred municipal finance experience. Equipment and Tools Used Personal computers, copiers, PC software (word/excel), public records and laws. Abilities- Math
- An understanding of percentages, fractions, ratios, rates, algebra, and calculations is required.

- Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret complex manuals and instructions (including ordinances).

- Ability to write moderately complex instructions and communicate problems, procedures for supervision or for others. Ability to write correspondence to employees and customers.

- Ability to clearly communicate information and questions related to all aspects of the job in person and over the phone using correct English. Physical Requirements Considered Sedentary Work.
