Job Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join a growing team in Illinois in a contract role with the potential to become permanent. This position supports a diverse client base by managing payroll operations, maintaining accurate financial records, and preparing reporting documents that help businesses stay compliant and organized. The ideal candidate brings hands-on payroll experience, strong accounting awareness, and confidence working with client information in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
  • Manage recurring payroll cycles for multiple business clients, ensuring accurate and timely completion of weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly pay runs.
  • Collect and review payroll data from clients, verify pay details such as earnings, deductions, overtime, and bonuses, and enter information into the appropriate systems.
  • Respond to client questions related to payroll activity, pay records, tax items, and processing concerns with professionalism and accuracy.
  • Prepare payroll tax filings and related documentation for agencies, while supporting required monthly, quarterly, and year-end reporting deliverables.
  • Maintain and update employee compensation details, benefit deductions, wage rates, and onboarding records to support accurate payroll administration.
  • Perform bookkeeping activities for assigned clients, including recording bank and credit card transactions and generating financial statements for review.
  • Reconcile accounts to identify discrepancies, correct posting issues, and support accurate financial reporting.
  • Assist with after-the-fact payroll processing and contribute to additional compliance tasks such as sales tax reporting as training progresses.
